I am trying to decide between the Autobronzer
and an Airbrush Tan. Could you explain the difference, and
which one is better?
We get this question often and honestly, it’s a matter
of personal preference. The Autobronzer and Airbrush Tanning,
both use similar solutions to produce a great sunless tan.
Some people prefer the privacy, speed, ease of use, and availability
of the Autobronzer, while others prefer the personal attention
to detail, that being in front of a skilled technician can provide.
If you require detail work done for photo shoots, custom highlighting
effects, or bad tan line issues that require correction, we recommend
airbrushing.
If you want a hassle free, all over, even tan, anytime, we recommend
the Autobronzer.
Will I look orange?
No, not at all, and we are so confident in our services that
we offer a
No Orange Guarantee.
Other salons might make this claim, but will they guarantee it?
Both the Autobronzer and Airbrushing have three levels of intensity
to choose from. We can guide you to the appropriate level, best
suited to your skin type, resulting in a natural tan colour,
without looking like a streaked pumpkin.

How long will the tan last?
Sunless tans have the strongest colour the first 3-4 days, and
then gradually start fading, usually lasting 5-7 days, sometimes
more.
Results can vary depending on several conditions such as dry
skin, exposure to water, excess perspiration and after care.
See the section on Enhancing and Extending your Tan.
I tried a spray tan before and it made a mess of my
hands and feet, and I had streaks. Is the Autobronzer the same
as Mystic Tan or Instant Tan?
No!, the Autobronzer is unique, and represents the next generation
of improved technology. If you’ve ever tried any other
spray tan before and thought, I’ll never do that again,
or were unsatisfied, we understand completely, but don’t
give up on the concept. Try the Autobronzer, and you’ll
see the differences.
You’ll notice both a dramatic improvement in your comfort
level during the session, and superior results afterwards. A
recent survey of frequent spray tan users, voted the Autobronzer "Best
Spray Tan"
The Autobronzer, and the methods we use at Kix Tanning, address
all the problem issues that result from over saturating the skin,
and improper use of barrier creams.
The Autobronzer is voice activated, and has an open design;
you are not enclosed in a booth, breathing in excess mist.
The Autobronzer mist feels very light on your skin, yet covers
the body evenly, because of static technology. The spray lasts
for only 3 seconds on your front, and 3 seconds on your back,
versus 30 seconds of cold saturation, for front and back coverage
with Mystic Tan.
The Autobronzer has an automatic dry cycle that leaves you completely
dry, immediately after your session. No need to rub in, or towel
dry excess solution, and drip lines, like other machines.
As an exclusive added service, for Kix Tanning clients, we provide
foot and hand covers to wear during your session. These eliminate
the guess work involved by using barrier cream, and prevent the
sure sign of a sunless tan gone wrong, orange hands and feet!.
They block the sunless solutions from penetrating your palms
and the soles of your feet.
After your session is finished, and you are redressed, we hand
spray only the tops of your hands and feet, so there are no surprises
6-8 hours later.

I’m very fair skinned and can rarely get a tan.
Will sunless work on me?
Yes, it’s specifically designed for hard to tan individuals;
this is a cosmetic tan that will look great on any skin type.
If you want really dramatic dark results, and your base is very
pale, you might have to do more than one session.
Could I do the Autobronzer on my lunch hour, and then return
to work?
Yes, the whole session including undressing and redressing,
takes about 10 minutes to complete, the solution dries very quickly,
and your skin will feel normal. Note: You will see a visible
difference in skin tone, and you will continue to darken more,
as the day goes on.
Can I do a sunless session every week and maintain a tan all
the time?
Yes, you can, but too many sunless sessions on top of each other,
without proper exfoliation in between, can cause uneven patches
where a build up of colour can occur.
If you exfoliate well, prior to each session, you can maintain
a sunless tan for as long as you wish.
We do recommend you allow your skin to return to its normal state
for a few days, after four weeks in a row of sunless treatments,
especially if you still have residual colour left or
dry skin.
Moisturizing regularly is essential for frequent sunless tanners;
all DHA products, when used over extended periods, can have a
drying effect on the skin.

Can I do UV Tanning and Sunless together?
Yes, they work very well together. UV tanners love the way the
Autobronzer can get them started with an immediate boost, or
add to their existing tan, fast. If your doing both in the same
day, use your UV session first, than follow with the Autobronzer.
Will my skin smell bad after the treatment?
No, the Autobronzer solutions leave a pleasant smell afterwards.
Our airbrush formula is lightly scented with Green Tea Extract.
If your one of the few who notices a sour smell after a sunless
session, it’s just the DHA processing, and it will be gone
after your first shower. California Tan makes a great product
called Neutralizer for those susceptible, that you spray directly
on the skin 30 minutes after a sunless treatment to neutralize
any odour.
I have sensitive skin, how can I be assured I won’t
get a reaction from the sunless solutions?
It is unlikely you would get a reaction from our sunless solutions.
If you have experienced, a reaction from any other sunless product
before, or you want to be sure, we suggest you come in for a
free patch test first.
What should I wear during and after an Autobronzer session?
Since the Autobronzer is a private session, most people tan
naked, or wear a small bottom to create an appealing tan line.
Another choice is an old bathing suit, or under garments. If
you wear anything during your session, you will develop a tan
line where any skin is covered.
The sunless solutions will easily wash out of cotton fabrics;
however we do not recommend you wear your best light coloured
lingerie, favourite bathing suit, or anything made with wool,
nylon, or silk, as these fabrics can stain permanently.
Bring loose fitting, dark coloured clothing to wear, after your
sunless treatment, and flip flops for the feet work well, weather
permitting.

What should I wear during an Airbrush session?
The same applies as with the Autobronzer. The only difference
is that an airbrush tan is applied by a professional technician.
Are there any restrictions using the Autobronzer?
Yes, if you have a pacemaker, you can not use the Autobronzer.
The electro-static technology omits a small electrical charge,
not felt by the human body, but could interrupt the normal rhythm
of a pacemaker device.
If you are pregnant, please consult your physician first.
I have eczema patches on my arms and hands; can I still get
a sunless tan?
It’s not recommended if you have many infected areas that
flake, or peel. Any dry patches tend to absorb more solution,
and can come off blotchy after a couple of days. If you only
have a few small areas, cover them with a bit of barrier cream
during the session, and moisturize those areas frequently after
your first shower.
I’m going on vacation to the tropics, is a sunless
tan a good idea?
Yes, it’s a great alternative before any vacation, or
special event. It’s wonderful to feel comfortable in your
summer clothing, immediately upon arrival, anywhere.
Please Note; a sunless tan does not provide any protection from
UV exposure. Your tan may look very real, but it’s only
cosmetic. Be sure to use proper sunscreen, as you would normally
if you didn’t have a tan.

Will my tan come off right away if I swim in a chlorinated
pool or use a hot tub?
No, but any prolonged exposure to water can have an affect on
how many days your tan will last. To extend the life of your
colour, take shorter dips and moisturize afterwards.
PROBLEM AND CORRECTION QUESTIONS
My face tan fades faster than
the rest of my body, how can I prevent that?
It’s common for face colour to be the first to diminish.
Check your facial cleanser and moisturizers to see if they contain
AHA, BHA, or other exfoliating ingredients that could be stripping
your tan.
We have great products to boost facial tans. Try Bronze Shimmer
Powder, Face Perfector by CT, or Brown Sugar Sunless Airbrush
Spray, for fast facial touch ups.
I used an aerosol spray and the calluses on my feet soaked
in too much colour, how can I fix that?
Use a soft sided nail buff or sponge file, and gently file off
the excess, or a pumice stone works well too.

I used a sunless lotion at home and have stained hands, what
can I do to get it off?
These stains can be difficult to remove safely, but here are
a few suggestions, and tips:
If the stains haven’t completely set yet, use an antibacterial
soap with a nail brush or any brush, and vigorously scrub your
palms.
Once the stains are set, try a mechanic’s soap, or a paste
made of water and baking soda, and wash palms several times.
Wet a cotton ball, or gauze, with hydrogen peroxide, and let
it soak in your palms for a few minutes, then rinse off any residue.
The hydrogen peroxide must be less than six months old, otherwise
it won’t be effective, and sometimes it’s a delayed
reaction.
Body Hair Bleach, found at any drug store works very well.
Do not try all these suggestions at the same time; as your palms
will be raw.
Do not use household bleach on your skin. Some say that Windex
works, but we don’t recommend using any household cleaners.
Next time you apply a sunless product at home, use rubber, or
surgical gloves, or stop every five minutes during application,
and scrub your palms with soap and hot water.
Or, if you just can’t get it right, try the Autobronzer
or an airbrush tan, and leave it to the experts at Kix Tanning.

I have some spotty patches that showed up on my chest 5 days
after my sunless session. Why is that and how do I get rid of
them?
If your sunless tan is not coming off evenly it’s probably
a result of poor exfoliation prior to your session, or a few
other possibilities.
If you used sugar/oil or salt/oil exfoliates before your session,
they can leave a residue that can cause spotting, if not completely
removed before your sunless treatment.
Tight fitting clothes that cause friction, mixed with excess
perspiration can cause rub off.
Spraying perfumes containing alcohol, directly on your skin
can also cause spotting. Spray fragrances behind your neck or
on clothing instead.
The products you use on your skin could also be the problem.
Try changing what soap or moisturizer you use, and see if that
helps. Some say Dove Body Wash can cause sunless tans to go spotty.
The best thing to do is gently exfoliate the tan and start fresh.
I turned out a bit darker than I wanted, how can I bring the
colour down a bit?
First, don’t panic, it’s easy to fix. Rub baby oil
evenly on your skin, let it soak in a bit, then have a long bath
or shower. Each time you do this you will loose a bit of colour.
You can also use a sunless primer, and gently, but evenly exfoliate
with a wash cloth in the shower.
